is poker turning more into gambling than a game?

Why is it that so many young hotshot players are prepared to blow thousands on hands such as 8 9 suited? Surely this is ruining the game of poker by turning it more into gambling than a game of skill? I am all for daneil negreanu type raises with position and suited connectors but recently i saw tom dwan reraising pre flop with k9 suited, a hand which he was promptly called and ended up winning due to the initial raiser calling the reraise with 8 9 suited.Doyle Brunson commented afterwards to Barry Greenstein (2 obvious greats of poker), that they didnt used to reraise with those hands in his day, obviously indicating that this play was a bad 1 in the long run. So is this good for the game? I know that poker is a game of chance which needs a degree of luck and cunningly played hands mixed in with perfect timing and impecable betting. Poker can be some peoples job and they grind it out to make a living and there are the players who play recreationally with a loose edge at limits they can afford. But no matter what level of poker you play at yourself, but particularly in cash games i have lost count of how many times i have sufferred bad beats against 7 5 suited or hands like that. And it is becoming more frequent which is leading to total frustration! Given the variance in poker i know that this will level itself out over the long run but it is totally and completely getting on my nerves! There will be people thinking to themselves now yes well look how much money these young guns are making money but theres only so many times the weak hands can come good against the strong hands
